The Arcane framework
AI agents can write code; the Arcane framework gives them a way to ship it, installing a plan-to-ship lifecycle, written standards and a roster of agent roles into any repository as plain files. We use it on our own work and develop it in public under the MIT license.
- Shipped and maintained. Published on npm as
arcane-cli, with a public changelog. - Built with itself. Its own session journals, decision records and reviews are in the open repository.
- People approve, agents propose. In an interactive session, a commit waits for approval of the exact change, and an agent merges on its own only once it has been promoted to that level.
- Honest about every rule. Each rule in its standards says whether a tool checks it, a workflow performs it, or it is advice.
